Wytheville Community College (WCC) held its third annual NC3 National Signing Day for Career and Technical Education on Thursday, April 10, 2025, welcoming approximately 90 incoming students who committed to pursue hands-on careers in high-demand industries.

This national event, sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), modeled after athletic signing ceremonies, recognized students as they officially signed letters of intent to enroll in technical programs including Automotive, Welding, Powerline, Industrial Maintenance, Criminal Justice, Machine Technology, Off Road Diesel, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, and Carpentry. Dozens of technical institutions across the country hosted signing day ceremonies tied together by live, nationwide simulcasts. Families, instructors, business leaders, and community members were present at the Wytheville Meeting Center as students signed their commitment to a future in the skilled trades. Following the signing, students were presented with a WCC hat, which they proudly put on to mark the beginning of their journey.

“This is one of the most exciting days of the year for us,” said Dr. Dean Sprinkle, WCC President. “These students are taking an important step toward building successful, rewarding careers in fields that are essential to our communities and our economy. We’re proud to celebrate their choice and can’t wait to see the impact they’ll make. For these students, this commitment is every bit as significant to their futures as those who participate in similar college athletic signing ceremonies.”

The event highlights the value and importance of career and technical education, while also recognizing the students' achievements and their commitment to furthering their education in skilled professions.
