WCC Choir will perform two spring concerts this season in Hillsville on May 8 and in Wytheville on May 13.
The talented 45-member Wytheville Community College Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Cynthia Jackson, presents Creation by Dan Forrest. Creation was first performed in New York at Carnegie Hall in April 2024. The WCC Choir performance will be the Virginia Premiere of the Concert Suite from Creation that was written on the 225th anniversary of Haydn’s similarly themed masterpiece. The Concert Suite contains six selections from Dan Forrest’s epic Oratorio and explores the wonders of our planet through a dazzling variety of musical expressions for chorus, chamber orchestra, and soprano and baritone soloists. The choir will also present music by Franz Joseph Haydn, John Rutter, Ola Gjeilo, Elaine Hagenberg, and others. The performances are on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hillsville, and on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wytheville. Admission is free, but donations to the WCC Educational Foundation will be accepted.
