All Wytheville Community College locations, including the locations in Wytheville, at The Crossroads Institute in Galax, and at the Summit Center in Marion, will be closed Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, for faculty and staff professional development activities.
“The purpose of closing the college on October 11 is to allow all WCC employees, including those at our off-campus locations, to attend and benefit from the professional development activities we have planned for that day,” said WCC President Dean Sprinkle. “By giving advanced notice of the closing, we hope we won’t inconvenience any students or members of the general public who may want to use our campus facilities or library that day.”
WCC schedules similar activities each year. These activities include faculty and staff planning and professional development meetings and are normally held at the beginning and the end of the fall and spring semesters, but not all employees are able to attend. The October 11 closing will give all employees the opportunity to attend the professional development sessions.
While the college is closed, students and the community may still access online information via the WCC website at www.wcc.vccs.edu. For more information, contact WCC at (276) 223-4700.
