Due to continuing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wytheville Community College (WCC) has cancelled its regular college-sponsored events that were scheduled for Fall 2020 semester. These events include auditions, rehearsals, and performances of the WCC Choir, WCC Concert Band, and WCC Theatre. WCC's monthly Old-Time and Bluegrass Jamboree and the Annual 5K Sprint for Scholarships have also been cancelled this fall.
The decision to cancel these events follows WCC’s announced plans to continue offering most instruction remotely during Fall Semester 2020. Only a limited number of health and occupational program classes that require face-to-face instruction will be held on campus or at off-site locations. WCC buildings will remain closed to the public, with most employees working remotely.
"As we consider the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff, we must also ensure the health and safety of community members who participate during WCC sponsored events," said Dr. Dean E. Sprinkle, WCC President.
