Please contact Vicki to schedule an appointment. Application packet and deadlines for applying will be provided at that time. Students are entered on a first come, first served basis as applications are finalized. It is important for students to be proactive in finalizing their applications in a timely manner. Deadlines for each program are normally set 2 - 4 weeks in advance of the class start date. 

Nurse Aide Program

Fall 2018 Schedule:
August 23 - October 19 / Crossroads Institute in Galax / Mon., Tues., Thurs., & Fri from 5:00 - 9:00 PM
November 7 - December 14 / Crossroads Institute in Galax / Mon - Fri from 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Spring 2019 Schedule:
Classes begin on January 14, 2019 / Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM
Classes begin on January 28, 2019 / Evening class - Times TBA
Classes begin on March 11, 2019 / Days & Times TBA

Classes are held at the Crossroads Institute in Galax with clinicals at local Nursing Homes.

CDL Truck Driver Training Program 

Fall 2018 classes:
November 26 - December 21, 2018 / 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday
Spring 2019 classes:
April 15 - May 9, 2019 / 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday

PLEASE NOTE: Students interested in PowerLine, CDL, or Underground Power must obtain their Class A learner's permit prior to the deadline
(2 -4 weeks before first day of class).

Gas Metal Arc Welding/MIG - AWS Structural Steel Certification Training

Spring 2019 schedule:
January 23 - May 1, 2019 / Mondays & Wednesdays 5:00 - 8:20 PM
Classes are held at the Crossroads Institute in Galax.

Power Line Worker Program

Spring 2019 Schedule:
January 7 - April 10 / 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Monday - Thursday at the Wytheville campus 
(CDL portion of the program will be held Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM at the Crossroads Institute in Galax)

Agreement for Open Enrollment Participation in FastForward

 

Required Documentation:

  • Driver's License/or Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
  • Utility Bill with most recent address: (bank statement, cell phone bill, electric, voter card, etc.)
  • Most recent Tax Return filed (if parent/guardian is claiming you as a dependent, parent or guardian tax return will be required along with driver's license from both parent and student); OR if receiving TANF/SNAP (provide a copy of eligibility letter); OR if receiving Disability (provide a copy of eligibility determination letter).
  • If applying to the CDL Truck Driving program, student must provide an updated copy of driving record.

 

In addition to receiving grant funding, you may qualify for a scholarship through the Foundation Office to receive additional tuition assistance.

Workforce Non-credit Refund Policy

In non-credit classes, full refunds will be given if a course is cancelled or if a student withdraws three days prior to the course. In order to receive a refund, request can be made in writing, by phone at (276)223-4717, or via email at wfd@wcc.vccs.edu.
