MTE 9: Functions, Quadratic Equations and Parabolas

Functions, Quadratic Equations and Parabolas (1 credit) Includes an introductions to functions in ordered pair, graph, and equations form. Also introduces quadratic functions, their properties and their graphs. Prerequisite: MTE 8 or qualifying placement score. Credit is not applicable toward graduation.

MTH 155: Statistical Reasoning

MTH 155 - Statistical Reasoning (3 credits) Presents elementary statistical methods and concepts including visual data presentation, descriptive statistics, probability, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation and linear regression. Emphasis is placed on the development of statistical thinking, simulation, and the use of statistical software. Lecture 3 hours. Prerequisite: Competency in MTE 1-5 as demonstrated through placement or unit completion.

MTH 245 - Statistics I (3 credits) Presents an overview of statistics, including descriptive statistics, elementary probability, probability distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation, and linear regression. Credit will not be awarded for both MTH 155: Statistical Reasoning and MTH 245: Statistics I or equivalent. Prerequisite: Completion of MTH 154 or MTH 161 or equivalent with a grade of C or better.

SDV 101 Orientation To (Specify the Discipline) (1- 3 CR) - Introduces students to the skills which are necessary to achieve their academic goals, to services offered at the college and to the discipline in which they are enrolled. Covers topics such as services at the college including the learning resources center; counseling, and advising; listening, test taking, and study skills; and topical areas which are applicable to their particular discipline. Lecture 1-3 hours per week.
