3rd Annual STEM Train Event

The Wytheville branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) in partnership with Wytheville Community College (WCC) will host the 3rd Annual STEM Train event on March 25, 2017.

This fun, hands-on exploratory workshop is aimed at Wythe County and Bland County middle school girls who are currently in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The activities will focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), while encouraging participants to be creative and consider solutions for real-life problems.

Sessions include five, one-hour workshops in different STEM disciplines, and each student can attend four of the five sessions offered. Sessions include an introduction to electricity and conductivity, robotic maneuvering using JAVA code, virtual and augmented reality, bioengineering, and barn owl pellet dissection.

The workshop will be held on the WCC campus from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the registration fee is $5, which includes a boxed lunch. To register or for more information about the STEM Train event please contact Aymer at aaymer@wcc.vccs.edu or aauw.wythe@gmail.com.
