How do I apply for admission?

It's simple. Just complete the application form. Call (276) 223-4701 or click here for more information or click here for an application to apply to WCC.

How do I register for classes?

To register in person, come to the college's main campus (209 Bland Hall), the Crossroads Institute, or the Smyth Education Center. If you are a returning student in good academic standing who has no debt to the college or other holds or a new student that has been approved to enroll by the Admissions Office, you can go to http://wcc.my.vccs.edu/ to access the Student Information System enroll online.

What about financial aid?

To find out if you're eligible for financial aid, complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). For more information, visit our Financial Aid web site.

How much do classes cost?

Tuition and fees are very affordable. See the Tuition and Fees web site for up-to-date costs. As a matter of fact, since WCC is a part of the Virginia Community College System, students enjoy the lowest tuition -- much lower than any four-year college or university in the state. See the Tuition and Fees web site for specific class fees. Tuition Rate Schedules are available in the following locations: Admissions, Business Office, Financial Aid, the Crossroads Institute, and the Smyth Education Center.

How do I pay?

There are options for payment of tuition and fees.

Wytheville Community College is also pleased to provide the FACTS tuition payment plan. FACTS allows you to pay your tuition in monthly payments. The earlier you enroll, the more payment options you have. You may enroll in the FACTS plan or review the available payment plans online at the FACTS Tuition web site. Students must have the actual amount due, including specific class fees, before signing up for FACTS.

What if I'm a veteran?

Call the college at (276) 223-4703 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., or call toll free (outside Wythe County) 1-800-468-1195 ext 4703.

What about placement tests?

To help ensure student success, Wytheville Community College checks your skills in English, reading, and math before you enter a program. Tests are administered weekdays at the college and at scheduled times at off-campus sites. I you have questions about placement tests, contact a WCC counselor at (276) 223-4758.

What if I need a tutor?

The Academic Resource Center (ARC), located on the first floor of Bland Hall, provides student tutors for a variety of subjects. The center also has a collection of self-instructional materials.

Do I have to come to the main campus to take a WCC class?

WCC provides classes in Galax and Smyth County for your convenience. If you do not live close to WCC and wish to sign up for distance learning classes, contact Counseling at (276) 223-4758 for assistance with registration, paying tuition, buying books, and information about how to contact your online instructors for further instructions without having to drive to our campus or regional sites.

What if I need to return a textbook?

You may recieve a full refund up to two weeks after the beginning of a semester's classes. New books will be accepted for refund or exchange only if:

Used books will be accepted for refund or exchange only if you present your register receipt. Your refund will be given in the same manner in which you paid, i.e., credit card, cash, financial aid, etc.

Is the WCC campus safe?

WCC offers a well-lit campus and 24 hour campus security. In accordance with the Campus Security Act of 1990, the college is required to report any serious crimes on campus during the preceding three years. The last crime reported was the theft of a computer in 1997.
