Plans are underway for the next “Twin County Leadership Initiative” which will begin on March 19, 2019. This year’s program, “Simply Lead,” will include the following sessions: Leadership; Effective Communication; Workplace Professionalism; Building a Leadership Team; Community and Strategic Planning; and Local Government. The program is sponsored by the Crossroads Institute, the Twin County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and Wytheville Community College.
The sessions are scheduled to be held at the Crossroads Institute in Galax on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., beginning March 19 and running through April 23. The final session and a graduation ceremony and reception will be held on April 23.
Program enrollment is open to residents of the City of Galax, Carroll County, and Grayson County or to people who work primarily in these areas. Several slots will be designated for WCC students from these areas.
Interested individuals should complete an application form. Individuals or businesses within the community are also asked to nominate and encourage potential participants to apply. Representatives from the sponsoring organizations will form a screening committee that will review applications and select approximately 20 participants, with a goal of choosing a diverse group of participants.
The general cost for the Leadership Institute is $50, which covers program materials and instructional costs. Participants will receive “continuing education units” through WCC.
To obtain an application form or for more information about the program, contact Mrs. Brenda Sutherland, Executive Director of the Crossroads Institute at (276) 236-0391, Ext. 224, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for applying to participate in the program is March 8.
