Autisum and autism awarness: My son, Matt is moderate / severely autistic. When he was growing up there were no other parents that I knew with a child on the spectrum, the condition was thought to be rare and when he was diagnosed the doctor told me it was only 1:10,000. Completing my M.S. in Education allowed me to teach on a schedule similar to my son’s, and get to know how better to help him through his high-school years and beyond.  Matt was able to not only graduate, but graduate with honors, 4th in his graduating class, and as a member of the National Honor Society. He could not have done that had I not had the time to help him overcome the tremendous amount of obstacles laid before him.

The best thing about working at WCC is...:
..the students - and yes, I know it sounds so cliche', but it's the truth. The students coming in are in search of a better life, a better career, and WCC is their starting point. I take my job very seriously in that many students need help to get their college sea-legs, and learning to study and think critically may take some time. I want my students to not only succeed in my class, but be prepared for the next level and increase their chances of obtaining the goals they have set for themselves. Dreams do come true, and hard work is part of the package. I like showing them what they are capable of that many never knew they were.
