Teacher Education Assessments

Professional teacher assessments are prescribed by the Virginia Department of Education. Visit their website here.

Community College students are encouraged to speak to a 4-year transfer counselor concerning recommended professional assessments. WCC students are encouraged to complete the following two assessments prior to transfer:

Praxis I - is prescribed for entry into Virginia’s approved teacher education programs. To learn more about the entry level qualifying scores click here. For tests dates, cost, and registration visit this link.

Qualifying SAT and ACT scores may be substituted for the Praxis I. Talk to your 4-year transfer counselor concerning transfer institutions guidelines for substituted scores.
