Scholarships and financial opportunities
WCC offers financial aid services for eligible students. Students are encouraged to apply for Federal Financial Aid. Additional scholarships are also provided through WCC’s Educational Foundation.
After applying to your choose four-year institution, talk to four-year representative about the college’s financial opportunities. Some scholarships offer additional incentives to qualifying students entering teacher education. If you complete your two-year degree and enter the community college beginning in the fall of 2007 determine your eligibility for a Transfer Grant. “Students entering a Virginia community college in 2007 have an opportunity to receive up to $2,000 annually upon transferring to a four-year institution. Students must complete a transfer associate's degree with a 3.0 grade-point-average and meet financial eligibility requirements. The grant will be applied to tuition expenses at a four-year Virginia college or university, either public or private. The grant provides $1,000 for all eligible students, with an extra $1,000 for students who pursue undergraduate work in engineering, mathematics, technology, nursing, teaching or science.” Refer to http://www.vccs.edu/Students/TransferList/TransferFAQs/tabid/483/Default.aspx, para.1.
