Career Switcher Programs

Do you currently have a bachelor’s degree and are interested in a rewarding career change? Consider teaching as a second career. The Virginia community College System’s career switcher –EducateVA is designed for those qualifying individuals. Endorsement areas offered include Middle School (grades 6-8) with concentrations in mathematics, science, English/Language Arts; grades 6-12 mathematics, biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, or English; and K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) and Foreign Languages. The Virginia Department of Education created the Career Switchers program in 1999 as alternative route to teacher licensure for those individuals with considerable work and life experiences. There are other Virginia approved programs that may suit your lifestyle needs.
