Full-Time Support Staff
Wytheville Community College (WCC) is seeking two candidates for two full-time High School Career Coach positions. The High School Career Coach will serve students in two to three high schools within the service region to provide career development and community college academic advising to students with the greatest need for educational and career planning services. The positions are twelve-month restricted positions. Continued employment will be contingent upon funding.
Coach 1: Marion Senior High School, Rural Retreat High School, and Grayson County High School
Coach 2: Carroll County High School and Galax High School
The coach will assist student in identifying career pathways, selecting appropriate secondary and post-secondary educational programs and recognizing opportunities that will lead to meaningful employment. The coach may serve in other area high schools as needed and will be housed on the WCC Main campus, the Crossroads Institute in Galax, and the Summit Center in Marion on a rotating basis during the summer months.

Some of the duties may include but are not limited to:
- Career advising/planning;
- Academic Advising;
- Placement Testing;
- Assist with college and financial aid applications;
- Coordinate college recruitment visits/events; and
- Utilize electronic case management system to maintain current documentation of students served and services/activities completed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, or related field;
- Experience working in a secondary or post-secondary environment to include academic and career advising; and
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to include presentation skills and competency in the use of technology and social media.
- Master’s Degree in Education or Counseling; and
- Experience in community college setting.
