DNH 244: Dental Hygiene IV

DNH 244 Introduces advanced skills and the dental hygienist's role in dental specialties. Includes supervised clinical practice in the dental hygiene clinic and/or off-campus clinical rotations at various community facilities. Emphasizes treatment of clients demonstrating periodontal involvement, stressing application and correlation of knowledge and skills from previous semesters. Prerequisite DNH 143 or DNH 190. Lecture 1 hour. Clinic 12 hours. Total 13 hours per week.

DRF 111 Introduces technical drafting from the fundamentals through advanced drafting practices. Teaches lettering, metric construction, technical sketching, orthographic projection, sections, intersections, development, fasteners, theory and applications of dimensioning and tolerances. Includes pictorial drawing, and preparation of working and detailed drawings. Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 2-6 hours. Total 3-7 hours per week.

EDU 200: Introduction To Teaching As A Profession

EDU 200 Provides an orientation to the teaching profession in Virginia, including historical perspectives, current issues, and future trends in education on the national and state levels. Emphasizes information about teacher licensure examinations, steps to certification, teacher preparation and induction programs, and attention to critical shortage areas in Virginia. Includes supervised field placement (recommended: 40 clock hours) in a K-12 school. Prerequisite: Successful completion of 24 credits of transfer courses. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours.
