WCC Locations to be Closed Friday, Oct. 13 for Faculty/Staff Development Activities
All Wytheville Community College locations—including the campus in Wytheville, WCC at Crossroads in Galax, and WCC at the Summit Center in Marion—will be closed Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, for faculty and staff professional development activities.
“The purpose of closing the college on October 13 is to allow all WCC employees, including those at our off-campus locations, to attend and benefit from professional development activities we have planned for that day,” said WCC President Dean Sprinkle. “We hope that by giving advanced notice of the closing, we won’t inconvenience any students or members of the general public who may want to use our campus facilities or library that day.”
WCC schedules similar activities each year. These include faculty and staff planning and professional development meetings and are normally held at the beginning and the end of the fall and spring semesters. However, not all employees are able to participate in these activities because of needed coverage in WCC offices. The October 13 closing will give all employees the opportunity to attend the professional development sessions.
While the college is closed, students and the community may still access online information via the WCC website at www.wcc.vccs.edu. For more information, contact WCC at (276)223-4700.
