WCC to Hold Truck Driver Training Program in March

Wytheville Community College has a great opportunity for those seeking an exciting and lucrative new career path. The next Truck Driver Training Program starts soon at WCC’s location at the Crossroads Institute in Galax.

The six-week course begins March 20, 2017, and lasts through April 28, 2017. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To complete the Truck Driving Training Program, students must successfully complete 18 units of study while maintaining a “C” or better average. In addition to achieving program completion, students will earn an Entry-Level Driver certification and take a Commercial Driver’s License certification administered by the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Graduates of the WCC Truck Driver Training Program typically find employment immediately upon graduation.

“WCC’s Truck Driving Training program offers participants the opportunity to invest only six weeks in training, and that training enables students to secure employment immediately with a starting salary of approximately $40,000 annually,” said Bill Reeves, Assistant Professor of Truck Driving.

WCC is currently registering students for the March class in Galax, and space is limited. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. For additional information about the program or to register, contact Reeves at (276) 744-4980 or by email at breeves@wcc.vccs.edu.
